History

Tang Rou is the daughter and heiress of the wealthy Tang family.[1] Her father runs Tang Corporation Limited, an international conglomerate with 14,000 employees. She went overseas to study music in a famous music school but grew tired of it and returned to China. Her father asked her what she wanted to do. Tang Rou replied that she didn't know. Next, her father gave her a lot of freedom, wanting the best for her. In her travels, Tang Rou stumbled into Happy Internet Cafe and decided to work there. She told this to her father and he agreed, letting her do whatever she wanted as long as she grew up happy and healthy. When her father learned she was going pro, he tried to play Glory, and ended up becoming a fan of Ye Xiu.[2]

Plot

Volume 1: Banished Battle God

When Tang Rou returns from her vacation, Chen Guo informs her on Ye Xiu. Chen Guo wants Tang Rou to duel Ye Xiu in Glory. Tang Rou has the hand speed to beat the Heavenly Domain Challenge for Chen Guo and to destroy normal players in the Arena. That is why Tang Rou claimed Glory was "easy." Tang Rou waits until Ye Xiu got his sleep since he was on the night shift.

In the afternoon, Chen Guo introduces Tang Rou to Ye Xiu. Tang Rou decides to use Chen Guo's level 70 Chasing Haze account while Ye Xiu chooses his level 21 Lord Grim account. They agree to play in Fixed Field, where the system equalizes all the stats and does not count wins or losses.

Tang Rou agrees with Ye Xiu to bet 100 Yuan on the duel in the Arena. In the smallest map of the Arena, she notices Ye Xiu's weird umbrella weapon. In an early exchange, Ye Xiu overwhelms Tang Rou with a chain of Blade Master, Battle Mage, and Sharpshooter skills. She realizes that she was a level slower than Ye Xiu.

Tang Rou falls for Ye Xiu's Ninja skill, Shadow Clone Technique. Caught off guard, Chasing Haze suffers from the Assassin skill, Cut Throat. Tang Rou concentrates harder, but Ye Xiu attacks quickly with a chain of Collapsing Mountain, BBQ, Summoned Pet, and Eagle Stamp. Ye Xiu retreats with Aerial Fire before telling Tang Rou that she does not know how to play.

After she loses 100 yuan in the last duel, Tang Rou refuses to surrender and tells Ye Xiu to play seriously. Ye Xiu destroys her mercilessly in ten straight rounds, and Tang Rou loses a total of 1000 yuan. She wants to continue dueling, but she runs out of cash.

Ye Xiu playfully mocks Tang Rou for running out of money. He advises her to learn Glory for herself and to understand the gap between her skill level and Ye Xiu's skill level. When Tang Rou decides to make an account for Glory, she wants to compete with Ye Xiu as an Unspecialized character. Chen Guo convinces her not to play Unspecialized because the game capped Unspecialized characters at level 50 due to the class awakening quest requirement to continue leveling. Unspecialized characters could only continue leveling in Heavenly Domain. Tang Rou also lacks a silver weapon like Myriad Manifestation Umbrella, which makes the Unspecialized character viable.

Tang Rou chooses to play as a Battle Mage, and Chen Guo shows her a massive collection of Ye Qiu's old guides and videos (written by Ye Xiu under his former name as a gamer). Ye Xiu tells Tang Rou that he would teach her the Battle Mage class and fix up Chen Guo's outdated guides. Tang Rou has excellent control of her temper after losing 1100 yuan to Ye Xiu in Glory, which surprises Chen Guo. Tang Rou starts playing Glory while Ye Xiu polishes the Battle Mage guides for her. When he asks Tang Rou about her fast hand speed, she replies that she was born that way. On the 10th Server, Tang Rou creates her account and names her Battle Mage, Soft Mist.

Tang Rou stays up all night to build Soft Mist to level 16, which angers Chen Guo. Without making customer accounts for herself and Ye Xiu, Tang Rou works her morning shift. Tang Rou receives advice from Ye Xiu to get enough sleep, which affects physical strength and ability to play.

During the Internet cafe's blackout, Tang Rou persuades the electrician to stay and to fix the difficult electrical problem when the man wanted to fix the problem in the next day. Tang Rou and Ye Xiu help the electrician fix the electrical problem. Once the electricity works, Tang Rou starts leveling with Soft Mist, and Ye Xiu works the front desk. When the drunk Chen Yehui, Liu Hao, Wang Ze, and Feng Rengran enter the Internet cafe, Liu Hao tries to get Tang Rou's attention, but she does not recognize any of the Excellent Era professional players (Liu Hao, Wang Ze, and Feng Rengran).

Tang Rou overhears Liu Hao's mocking conversation with Ye Xiu. She laughs at Ye Xiu's witty remarks, which angered Liu Hao. She hears Ye Xiu criticize the Excellent Era players for their poor performance in the 301 Degrees match. After Ye Xiu kicks out his four drunk colleagues, Tang Rou learns about how famous the three pro players are. Once Tang Rou's Soft Mist reaches level 20, Ye Xiu invites her to meet at Frost Forest.

When Tang Rou arrives outside the dungeon, Frost Forest, she meets Sleeping Moon, Seven Fields, Steamed Bun Invasion, and Ye Xiu's Lord Grim. Steamed Bun Invasion tries to flirt with Tang Rou, and she acts respectful paying no attention to his words. Tang Rou laughs when she uses the voice chat feature for the first time. Inside the Frost Forest dungeon, Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu as he uses Lord Grim to teach her the monsters and how to pull monsters. She learns quickly and starts to fight on her own.

In the 35-minute dungeon run, Tang Rou learns about every boss's characteristics from Ye Xiu. She claims Frost Forest was easy, so Ye Xiu challenges her to solo clear the dungeon. She accepts the challenge and leaves, which shocks Sleeping Moon and Seven Fields. While Ye Xiu watches, Tang Rou travels through the dungeon quickly. She grows proficient in using level 20 and below Battle Mage skills. She exhausts Soft Mist's mana and used mana potions. Tang Rou empties her character's mana in ten seconds' worth of skills, which leaves Soft Mist vulnerable to monster attacks. She starts using health potions to heal her character. Ye Xiu laughs at her struggle with mana and health potions, which annoys Tang Rou. Ye Xiu offers to show her the most efficient method of soloing Frost Forest.

Tang Rou rejects his offer. Ye Xiu leaves her alone to train. Tang Rou struggles to defeat the final Boss Frost Thain with her horrible management of mana. She refills Soft Mist's mana, which is exhausted in ten seconds and requires a minute to refill to max mana with fifty seconds of attacking without Battle Mage skills. Tang Rou manages to solo the dungeon in 1 hour, 33 minutes, 24 seconds, and 49 milliseconds. Afterward, Ye Xiu uses Tang Rou's Soft Mist to show her the "endurance limit" or the quickest and most efficient way to clear the Frost Forest. Tang Rou learns the precise planning and accounting to manage mana consumption, to kill monsters efficiently, and to maximize damage from skills. Ye Xiu completes the dungeon in 1 hour, 12 minutes, 21 seconds, and 32 milliseconds. Tang Rou notices his level of damage output was comparable to her without completely depending on Battle Mage skills to fight. She knows that Ye Xiu slowly cleared the dungeon to teach her. She guesses that he requires less than an hour to solo clear Frost Forest. She accepts Ye Xiu's Lord Grim account to practice the clearing Frost Forest. Tang Rou improves quickly with Ye Xiu's advice.[3]

While Tang Rou uses Lord Grim to practice in the Frost Forest, she unknowingly exchanges messages with Su Mucheng, who created her character, Cleansing Mist. Tang Rou reluctantly allows Ye Xiu to level her account while she sleeps, so she can join him later to set a new record clear time for Frost Forest.

Tang Rou's Soft Mist temporarily joins the guild, Tyrannical Ambition, for the record clear attempt. She joins Ye Xiu's Lord Grim, Steamed Bun Invasion, Su Mucheng's Cleansing Mist, and Crowd Lover to attempt the record time clear of Frost Forest for the guild, Tyrannical Ambition. They used One Wave Push, a genuine professional player tactic. Cleansing Mist pulls aggro of monsters while Lord Grim, Steamed Bun Invasion, and Soft Mist fights the pulled monsters with Crowd Lover uses AoE attacks to output damage. While Tang Rou pulls monsters, she worries that the team pulled more monsters than in the practice sessions. Su Mucheng explained to Tang Rou that their damage is higher with Level 25 weapons. Tang Rou is frustrated that she pulled 10 goblins compared to Ye Xiu's 16 goblins, which shows the gap of skill between them.

Tang Rou's Soft Mist fought aggressively against the final boss, Frost Thain. The team cleared Frost Forest in record breaking time of 13 minutes, 5 seconds, and 47 milliseconds for Tyrannical Ambition. She is satisfied with her performance. Tang Rou asks Ye Xiu if their record was the limit, and he tells her that their class composition was not ideal for Frost Forest. An ideal class composition has the potential to reach the fastest time or the limit. She and Ye Xiu silently level in a leveling area when they see an announcement of Excellent Dynasty breaking their Frost Forest record with a time of 12 minutes, 55 seconds, 42 milliseconds.

Tang Rou unknowingly met Liu Hao's Hateful Sword when he joined her and Ye Xiu in a leveling party. She stayed up all night leveling Soft Mist with Ye Xiu's Lord Grim. After Hateful Sword left due to sleepiness, Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, Su Mucheng, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon met up to attempt to break the Boneyard dungeon's record clear time of 25 minutes, 14 seconds, and 32 milliseconds. The record clear attempt ends when the party meets the Hidden Boss, Vampire Knight Logue, which requires a lot of time to kill. When Tang Rou ignores Ye Xiu's order to wait, she recklessly initiates against the boss. She suffers from the boss's defensive ability to transform into a swarm bats to attack her.

Tang Rou's lack of experience hindered her ability to consistently fight against Vampire Knight Logue. Ye Xiu's Lord Grim and Su Mucheng's Cleansing Mist carried on the responsibility of fighting the boss. The two coordinated a great technique to launch the boss away when the boss transformed into a bat swarm, which reduced its effectiveness at recovering its health equal to the boss's inflicted damage upon the bitten player.

Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, and Su Mucheng kill Vampire Knight Logue while Seven Fields and Sleeping Moon watch. When the other four renounce the dropped items, Tang Rou forces the team to roll for the loot. She did not feel it was right for her to pick up the items so easily. In the second and third Boneyard dungeon run, Seven Fields and Sleeping Moon made a few mistakes, which made the team's overall clear times barely miss the record. In the final attempt (daily limit of four runs), Tang Rou and her teammates clear Boneyard in record time, 23 minutes, 54 seconds, and 71 milliseconds.

For breaking the Boneyard record, the game has a 100% chance reward rate for a Purple equipment to the party. Tang Rou receives the Level 25 Leather Armor because only Soft Mist, a Battle Mage, is proficient with Leather Armor. Lord Grim, Soft Mist, Cleansing Mist, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon go to run the Frost Forest dungeon to get experience. After four rounds, Su Mucheng and Lord Grim leave. Tang Rou asks Ye Xiu why he left and learns that he is studying to set an unbeatable record clear time for Boneyard.

Again, Tang Rou and Ye Xiu stay up all night to level. At midnight, Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu, Su Mucheng, Steamed Bun Invasion, and Hateful Sword, to attempt a new strategy to clear Boneyard. Ye Xiu showed his teammates the new strategy to clear Boneyard. Under the guidance of Ye Xiu, Tang Rou and Steamed Bun Invasion go to Skeleton Graveyard, which has similar monsters to Boneyard, to learn the strategy since they lacked experience.

In the record attempt of Boneyard, Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, Su Mucheng, Steamed Bun Invasion, and Hateful Sword work for Blue Brook Guild. With a few errors, the team breaks the record clear with a time of 17 minutes, 22 seconds, and 17 milliseconds. Tang Rou wants to reach the record clear time limit, which Ye Xiu rejects, and the five players run Boneyard three more times to level.

The next day, Tang Rou learns of Excellent Era's loss to Blue Rain, which does not affect her, because she does not care about the professional teams. She learns from Ye Xiu that they will break the Boneyard record tonight, which surprises her. Tang Rou and Ye Xiu learn that Excellent Dynasty claimed the record with a time of 16 minutes, 56 seconds, and 78 milliseconds. She worries that they cannot beat the significant gap in time with the new record, and Ye Xiu assures her that they can. She notices a suspicious person outside the Internet cafe, who flees, when she walks to the entrance. Ye Xiu tells her to ignore the person and log on to get Steamed Bun Invasion.[4]

Volume 2: Beginnings of the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella

At midnight, Tang Rou, Su Mucheng, Steamed Bun Invasion, and Ye Xiu welcome the Level 27 Blade Master, Flowing Tree, who was Huang Shaotian (only Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng know Shaotian), to Blue Brook Guild for a trial run. Tang Rou notices that the new, chatty teammate has amazing mechanical skill with smooth, quick, and accurate attacks. She realizes that Ye Xiu changes the former strategy to trap the boss, Zombie Bailey, in a crack. Ye Xiu explains to everyone that Liu Hao is Hateful Sword, a spy for Excellent Dynasty. In the actual clear attempt, Tang Rou dislikes Shaotian's constant chatter and Steamed Bun Invasion's singing yet recognizes the team's flawless progress. The team breaks the Excellent Dynasty record with a time of 16 minutes, 24 seconds, and 67 milliseconds. Blue Brook Guild holds the new record time, an improvement of 32 seconds.

After getting the record clear time and finishing the dungeon runs for the day, Tang Rou goes to complete quests for attributes and skill points. Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu, Steamed Bun Invasion, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon to level. She defends herself against the Witch, Plantago Seed, who randomly started attacking with Magic Missiles. Soft Mist suffers from a Disperse Powder attack from Plantago Seed. The Witch outclasses Soft Mist and Steamed Bun Invasion before Ye Xiu changes the flow of battle with Collapsing Mountain, Shadow Clone Technique, Eagle Stamp, and Guard.

Tang Rou watches as Ye Xiu suppresses Plantago Seed, who runs away. She and her teammates learn from Ye Xiu that they probably fought against Wang Jiexi, who controlled the character, Plantago Seed, and not the Herb Garden guild leader. As a new player, Tang Rou and Steamed Bun Invasion do not understand the gravity of the situation, where she fought against Wang Jiexi, the Magician.

One day later, Qiao Yifan's Ashen Moon attacks Ye Xiu's Lord Grim, so Tang Rou, Steamed Bun Invasion, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon help Ye Xiu suppress Ashen Moon. Tang Rou felt disappointed when she with three others failed to kill Ashen Moon compared to Ye Xiu killing Cloudy Heavens. When the team engages the four attackers, Tang Rou uses Ice Chasers to slow the Ghostblade, White Night Black Day, and Ye Xiu traps the enemy in the formation. Tang Rou, Steamed Bun Invasion, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon surround and suppress White Night Black Day, Weeping Crow, Fallen Angel, and Ashen Moon. With Ye Xiu's direction, Tang Rou and the team easily kill the four enemies.

Tang Rou watches from Ye Xiu controlling Soft Mist in a Battle Mage duel against Xiao Yun's Cloudy Heavens. She learns to mix in basic attacks between skills in order to switch up tempo. She learns about the strategic use of skills of the player and the opponent. She watches Ye Xiu suppress Xiao Yun. Ye Xiu sets Tang Rou as the prerequisite duelist to defeat before dueling him, which also functions as precious training against pro players. Tang Rou's Soft Mist fights Liu Xiaobie's Slash Slash Draw. She loses in 43 seconds. Tang Rou duels Liang Fang's Berserker, Blood Frenzy, and she loses quickly. Tang Rou duels the members of Tiny Herb and loses quickly.

Tang Rou loses to Wang Jiexi in a duel. Afterward, she watches the duel between Ye Xiu and Wang Jiexi. Tang Rou sees the Jiexi's Magician style for the first time and knows that she would have lost the duel faster against Jiexi's Magician. She sees Ye Xiu and Jiexi's duel ends in a draw.

The next day, Tang Rou duels against the whole team of Tiny Herb. Liu Fei challenges Tang Rou for a couple duels to pass the time. Tang Rou loses in 1 minute and 47 seconds, an improvement of 20 more seconds. She attempts to integrate Ye Xiu's advice and theory into her play to make fewer mistakes. She loses 2 more duels against Liu Fei. Wang Jiexi compliments Tang Rou and asks for a duel.

Tang Rou's Soft Mist duels against Wang Jiexi's Fiery Blaze. She fights against his Magician style and loses the duel in 27 seconds, a time predicted by Ye Xiu. Tang Rou rejects Jiexi's invitation for a trial at Tiny Herb to become a professional player in the Pro Alliance. When Jiexi leaves, Tang Rou duels against Qiao Yifan. She loses in almost three minutes, which is her best survival time against the Tiny Herb players.

Later, Tang Rou asks Ye Xiu if the Pro Alliance is fun, which he asks if Glory is fun for her. Tang Rou learns from Ye Xiu that her personality and her love of challenges is perfect for the Pro Alliance. She doubts Ye Xiu's reason for taking a break from the pro scene. Tang Rou and Ye Xiu dungeon together like usual through the early morning.

Tang Rou fights a few duels with Wang Jiexi and turns down his offer to trial for Tiny Herb. She learns that Ye Xiu is fairly old and only has a few years left at the pro level. Tang Rou learns from Jiexi that she lacks the experience to reach the pro level. After the Tiny Herb players leave, Tang Rou jokes with Ye Xiu about his tiredness from ten consecutive duels. Besides duels with Tiny Herb players, Tang Rou duels and loses horribly to Ye Xiu. Tang Rou duels and wins inconsistently to Bao Rongxing, who plays intuitively.

Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu, Su Mucheng, and Steamed Bun Invasion to help Maple Tree, the guild leader for Full Moon Guild, to set the record clear for Desolate Lands. In the first practice run, Tang Rou holds aggro to control the monster mobs with Ye Xiu's aggressive tactics. The team complete the practice run in an hour. The second run to break the record fails with a time of 35 minutes, 14 seconds, and 41 milliseconds. Tang Rou and the team have to depend on Maple Tree to perform in order to break the record. The third run fails at 34 minutes, 47 seconds, and 68 milliseconds.

Afterward, Tang Rou goes shopping with Ye Xiu and Steamed Bun Invasion in Glory. At level 30, she learns that equipment becomes more important. They go to Congee City. Tang Rou is shocked by the high prices for equipment. With only 10 gold, she looks for level 30 equipment. Following Ye Xiu's advice, Tang Rou searches for a level 30 Scarlet Moon Lance, a Purple weapon. With Ye Xiu's gold, she buys the Scarlet Moon Lance to boost her damage output for the Desolate Lands dungeon run.

After exiting the Line Canyon dungeon, Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, Steamed Bun Invasion, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon run into Thousand Creations as they flee from 24 enemy players. They stop to face the 24 enemies. From Ye Xiu's conversation with the opposing group, Tang Rou learns that the enemy leader is Chen Yehui, the guild leader of Excellent Dynasty. Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, and Steamed Bun Invasion charges into the enemy formation with Seven Fields, Sleeping Moon, and Thousand Creations as support. After killing 18 of the Excellent Dynasty players, Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu, Steamed Bun Invasion, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon went to dungeon in Line Canyon without Thousand Creations.

Tang Rou guesses correctly that Ye Xiu was forced out of the professional scene by his team. Tang Rou switches to the afternoon shift since she played Glory all night. After sleeping in the morning, she wakes up to work at noon and studies guides from Ye Xiu. At midnight, Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, Su Mucheng, Steamed Bun Invasion, and Maple Tree attempt the record clear of Desolate Lands on the first attempt.

After beating the first two bosses of Desolate Lands, Tang Rou and the team face the final and toughest boss, Ruler Toya, who has a variety of skills. Tang Rou watches in amazement as Ye Xiu suppresses Ruler Toya with ease. Ye Xiu's Unspecialized Lord Grim neutralizes Toya's advantage of multiple classes of skills. After seeing Ye Xiu suppressing an Enraged Toya with ease, Tang Rou wonders what Ye Xiu's limit is. For Full Moon Guild, the team clears Desolate Lands with a record of 28 minutes, 1 second, and 27 milliseconds, which destroys Blue Brook Guild's time of 30 minutes, 45 seconds, and 66 milliseconds.

At Line Canyon, Tang Rou goes to dungeon with Ye Xiu, Steamed Bun Invasion, Seven Fields, and Sleeping Moon. Afterward, she sees the sleeping Su Mucheng, who is leaning on Ye Xiu's shoulder. Tang Rou goes back to her seat to continue playing. Tang Rou plays Glory into the morning. She tells Chen Guo that Ye Xiu's female companion dungeons with Tang Rou regularly. After eating breakfast, Tang Rou goes to sleep.

At Fire Forest, Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu, Bao Rongxing, and Su Mucheng to kill Wild Boss, Fire Witch Cashew. Tang Rou is warned by Ye Xiu about the level 6 suppression, which reduces skill effects by 60-100%. Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu's plan and runs off with Rongxing while Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng attack Fire Witch Cashew. Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu's strategy of interrupting the Wild Boss's attempts to execute skills.[5] After three and a half hours, Tang Rou and the party kill Fire Witch Cashew to achieve the first kill of the Fire Forest's Wild Boss.

Tang Rou learns from Ye Xiu that Qiao Yifan will join them to break Blue Brook Guild's Desolate Lands record clear time of 24 minutes, 41 seconds, and 46 milliseconds. Near the entrance of the Desolate Lands dungeon, Tang Rou meets Qiao Yifan's One Inch Ash. On the first Desolate Lands run, Tang Rou, Ye Xiu, Su Mucheng, Bao Rongxing, and Yifan practice the Ye Xiu's strategy. On the second dungeon run, Tang Rou and the party aim to break Blue Brook Guild's record clear time.

Tang Rou and the party obliterate Blue Brook Guild's record with a time of 22 minutes, 35 seconds, and 22 milliseconds. On the third and final Desolate Lands run, Tang Rou and the party improve on their old record with a time of 22 minutes, 29 seconds, and 57 milliseconds. Afterward, Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu, Bao Rongxing, and Qiao Yifan to dungeon at Line Canyon. In the afternoon, Tang Rou prepares to watch Ye Xiu use Chen Guo's account, Chasing Haze, to duel Poplar Beach in the Arena. On another computer, Tang Rou watches Ye Xiu's duel with Chen Guo. Tang Rou watches Ye Xiu's Chasing Haze drop the Purple weapon and kick Poplar Beach into the air. Tang Rou watches Ye Xiu's Chasing Haze obliterate Poplar Beach with a 77-hit combo. Tang Rou sees Ye Xiu complete a perfect match, where he took no damage from the opponent.

Tang Rou laughs when Chen Guo scolds furiously at Ye Xiu, who flees the Internet cafe. Tang Rou tells Ye Xiu, who is late to work, that he will not be paid for today's work. She leaves Ye Xiu's seat at the front desk to go to another computer to play Glory. At Line Canyon, Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu's party to dungeon. They stumble upon the hidden boss, Illusion Swordmaster Ahong. Since Tang Rou did not study dungeons, Ye Xiu gives her a brief overview of the hidden boss. Early in the fight, Tang Rou is too aggressive and makes mistakes, which causes her Soft Mist character to be damaged heavily. She underestimates the damage of the hidden boss. Tang Rou spectates on the team fight and is forced to drink potions to recover health. After recovering, Tang Rou returns to fight with the party. With the wild boss at red blood, Tang Rou and the four party members each fight against a real Shadow Step version of the wild boss.

Tang Rou aggressively fights the hidden boss. She is surprised to learn that Bao Rongxing is an Internet cafe security guard, which matches his Brawler character, Steamed Bun Invasion, too well. Tang Rou and the party fight relentlessly and trade damage to kill the Illusion Swordmaster Ahong. On the third and final dungeon run, Tang Rou and the party break the Line Canyon record clear with a time of 30 minutes, 21 seconds, and 56 milliseconds. While Su Mucheng and Qiao Yifan log off, Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu and Rongxing to level at Desolate Lands. Afterward, Tang Rou solos the Desolate Lands dungeon to improve her mechanics.

Tang Rou discovers a dungeon guide by Concealed Light, which catches the interest of Ye Xiu. Tang Rou and Ye Xiu read these extremely detailed guides, which are almost twenty thousand words long. When Tang Rou returns to Glory, she sees that her character, Soft Mist, who was in the wild, is dead. She learns that a level 33 Spellblade, Breaking Zero, assassinated her. At Congee City, Tang Rou revives Soft Mist, who is critically ill with an 80% stats penalty. When Tang Rou ventures out to Line Canyon, her weakened character is assassinated again by a group of enemies.

At Congee Forest, Tang Rou arrives to reinforce Ye Xiu and Huang Shaotian, who are both surrounded by the enemy forces. With Su Mucheng, Qiao Yifan, Bao Rongxing, and Concealed Light, Tang Rou causes chaos with her extremely aggressive playing style. Tang Rou coordinates with Ye Xiu to break up the enemy forces. Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu's orders to prevent the enemy force from retreating.

After wiping the enemy forces, Tang Rou and the other party members compare each other's number of enemy player kills. Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu's lead in fleeing the battleground, which will be swarmed by enemy reinforcements. Tang Rou goes to Line Canyon with Ye Xiu to attempt to set a new record clear. At Line Canyon, Tang Rou's performance drops because she is bored.[6]

Volume 3: Golden Strategy

She learns from Ye Xiu that dungeons are used to improve the player's performance in areas, such as micro mechanics and control. Tang Rou competes with Bao Rongxing to see who will kill two monsters the quickest by only attacking the monsters' first segments. Due to her unstable effective hand speed, Tang Rou loses. She makes nine mistakes. Tang Rou and the party finish the dungeon.

With Mucheng and Yifan logging off, Tang Rou and Bao Rongxing conduct a limited practice while Ye Xiu watches.

Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu to follow the five Tyrannical Ambition players, who had the aggro of Cliff Ronin Alpine, the Line Canyon Wild Boss. She sees Ye Xiu post false coordinates of the wild boss on world chat. Tang Rou learns from Ye Xiu that the coordinates were used to scare the enemy. Tang Rou sees the six enemy players. With Ye Xiu and Bao Rongxing in a pit, Tang Rou waits for the Tyrannical Ambition players to pull the wild boss to her position. Tang Rou cautiously follows Ye Xiu down the mountainside to launch an ambush. Under Ye Xiu's order, Tang Rou jumps out of a mound to attack the Tyrannical Ambition Blade Master. Tang Rou charges into battle against the enemy Blade Master. With the help of Cliff Ronin Alpine and Ye Xiu, Tang Rou kills her opponent. With Ye Xiu and the wild boss, Tang Rou suppresses the Striker to death. Tang Rou and the party kill all six members of Tyrannical Ambition and attack Cliff Ronin Alpine. With Ye Xiu and Bao Rongxing, Tang Rou kills Cliff Ronin Alpine, the Line Canyon Wild Boss. Tang Rou leaves her computer. She talks with Ye Xiu about the wild boss drops. Tang Rou learns that the Amber Crystal and the two Breath of the Cliffs are extremely useful as uncommon materials. Tang Rou goes to sleep early because her night shift is over. With Chen Guo, Tang Rou makes a jam sandwich and drinks milk for a snack. Tang Rou wonders if she has played too much Glory and has not spent time with Chen Guo.

Tang Rou gets a call from Ye Xiu about a PK. Tang Rou turns him down because she will watch a movie with Chen Guo. Tang Rou and Chen Guo return with a bunch of shopping bags. Tang Rou puts away the shopping bags into the second-floor room. Tang Rou returns to the first floor. She sets up her new keyboard and mouse next to Chen Guo’s computer station. Tang Rou laughs while Ye Xiu’s advice incites Chen Guo’s anger. On the 10th Server, Tang Rou goes to repair her weapon’s durability.

With Ye Xiu, Yifan, Mucheng, and Rongxing, Tang Rou goes to dungeon at Line Canyon. Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu’s safe roundabout routes to avoid enemy players, which wastes one hour compared to the regular routes. Tang Rou learns from Ye Xiu that they need to level up, which is the most effective way of fighting against the enemy guilds. Tang Rou follows Ye Xiu to Fire Forest to kill monsters. Tang Rou learns from Ye Xiu that they have the strength to clear Line Canyon in 25 minutes. Tang Rou wants to set a new record, which Ye Xiu disagrees and questions her about her motives. Tang Rou is stumped on Ye Xiu’s question about why she set dungeon record clears. Tang Rou asks Ye Xiu about his motives. She learns that Ye Xiu set record for uncommon materials. Tang Rou is shocked when she learns that Mucheng, Yifan, and Rongxing do not care about the dungeon records. Tang Rou refuses to give up fighting for dungeon records. Tang Rou learns from Ye Xiu that their monopoly of record clears is not worth the repeated fighting with the enemy guilds. Tang Rou sees Ye Xiu’s personal message that Chen Guo is waiting for them at the Heavenly Domain. Tang Rou drops the direct pursuit of dungeon record clears, but she wants to break dungeon records by accident in their rush to level up.

After dungeoning at Line Canyon, Tang Rou goes to dungeon at Desolate Lands with Ye Xiu and Bao Rongxing. Tang Rou dungeons with Concealed Light for the first time. After three Desolate Lands dungeon runs, Tang Rou goes to sleep.

Tang Rou is online and sees the theme for the Christmas event is to hunt down the Christmas thieves. Tang Rou sees the individual leaderboards, which is separated into five level ranges to match the level of the players. Tang Rou joins Ye Xiu and Su Mucheng at Sin City. Tang Rou runs from over ten Sin City residents. She lacks the experience and awareness to understand the aggro range of the Sin City residents. Tang Rou’s Soft Mist is saved by Mucheng. Tang Rou tells Chen Guo that Cleansing Mist is Ye Xiu’s friend. Tang Rou tells Mucheng that she wants to learn on her own. Tang Rou moves in a separate direction to Mucheng. Tang Rou looks over to Ye Xiu’s screen to copy him. Tang Rou learns from Chen Guo that Ye Xiu has the experience and the intuition to avoid the Sin City residents. Tang Rou realizes that she cannot copy Ye Xiu. Tang Rou struggles through Sin City and kills a few Thieves. After an hour, Tang Rou sees that she is ranked 784th place on the individual Christmas Hunting leaderboard while Ye Xiu’s Lord Grim is 261st place and Mucheng’s Cleansing Mist is 319th place.

Tang Rou slowly progresses up the individual Christmas Hunting leaderboards. With more experience, Tang Rou familiarizes herself with Sin City. She chases at Christmas thief and sees a competing Blade Master, Wind Following Sword. Tang Rou takes the aggro of the Christmas thief. She gets tangled up in a duel with Wind Following Sword. Tang Rou hits Wind Following Sword with a Falling Flower Palm. Tang Rou sends her opponent into a group of Sin City residents, where she accidentally gains the aggro. Tang Rou fights against Wind Following Sword while being attacked by the Sin City residents. Tang Rou realizes that Wind Following Sword sees through her fighting style.

Tang Rou manages to damage Wind Following Sword except the monsters land hits and lowers Soft Mist’s health by a third. Tang Rou is stuck in a duel with Wind Following Sword, who continually retreats. Tang Rou uses a Skill Scroll to temporarily get the level 50 Battle Mage Awakening Skill: Battle Spirit.
